2. Pass A Vision Exam
A vision exam is required to ensure all drivers meet the minimum vision standards, such as recognize those traffic signs or see a pedestrian crossing the street.
During the test, you can help yourself by being well rested and bringing your new glasses or contact lenses if your prescription has changed since your last renewal.
If you wear corrective contact lenses to take the test, it is necessary to tell the employee. You won't be requested to remove your contact lenses for the test, but your license will be restricted to "corrective lenses".
The DMV's vision screening standard is:
- 20/40 with both eyes tested together, and
- 20/40 in one eye and, at least, 20/70 in the other eye.
