What Is The Difference Between Added Lane Sign and Merge Sign?

The Added Lane Sign

The added lane sign is usually posted near the place where the entering traffic meets the traffic on the main highway. Drivers can also spot these signs on two sides of the roadways.

If an on-ramp to a highway turns out to be a new lane, entering traffic should proceed on this new lane instead of merging into the main highway. Drivers on the main road will not be prepared for merging vehicles at this point.

In the same manner, drivers on the main highway should also avoid driving into the new lane for safe measure.
